You don't need to buy a domain name and associate it with your website, but there are numerous benefits to doing this. Most importantly, a domain name is key to building your brand and gives your website an easy-to-remember, recognizable web address.

The easiest way to purchase a domain name is to simply publish your site. (For more on publishing a site, take a look at our tutorial on the topic.) To buy a domain name this way, follow these steps:
- In the window that shows your site has been published, type a domain name you want to purchase in the field labeled "Search for & register a custom domain for your site." Choose .com, .net, .info, or .biz from the drop-down menu, then click Search.
- Available domain names (in all four top-level domains) will appear in a new window. Select the one you want to purchase and click Yes Please!
- On the following page, click Continue. Fill out the fields provided, check the box to agree to the Domain Name Registration Agreement, and click Continue again.
You can also register a domain name via the Control Panel:
- Click the Control Panel tab
- Under "Site Configuration", click Manage Domains
- Enter the domain name you wish to register and click Search
- On the following page, click Continue. Fill out the fields provided, check the box to agree to the Domain Name Registration Agreement, and click Continue again.
